bronze93
I replaced the orifice tube, dryer, and compressor on my car. Then vacuumed it. When I put the freon in it took the first can with no problem but won't take the second. The low side says it is 45 psi and the high side is 130. Why won't it take the last can, build any high pressure and blow cold? The pressure is holding so it doesn't seem to be a leak.

bronze93
Double checked everything and the pressure on the scan tool says 130 but the high side port with the gauge says 40 not 140 just 40. and the low side is 35 with the gauge. this is with the car running. Possibly bad compressor bought from junkyard?
bronze93
I solved the problem by swapping the compressor control valve assembly. Time to start saving for a new compressor.
EviLette
When I replaced the a/c system in my 92 GP, I didn't even bother with j/y parts, bought everything brand new... and the worst part is that my darling Precious ate the compressor 20 minutes after I picked up the car. Luckily it was one of the FEW times I purchased the parts through the shop and not on my own, so the labor was warrantied too. Got damn lucky with that one.
