fleetwoodguy79
Ok, I'll put these in order, the retards at ClubGP dont know their ass from a hole in the ground. 1. Problem: Oil in the vaccum system. Leaking straight out the breather hose into the intake. Motor has 3k on it with a TOTAL rebuild. Whats causing this? Rings not set right? Its really pissing me off lol... 2. Timing: If I want to retard the exhaust to 13 degrees, I can do it with the belt still on right? Just loosen the cogs and do it? Going to make a custom cam hold down tool for this. 3. Tranny: This seems to be my REAL source of loosing power. You think a different stall Torque conv. would help? Protorque says they make one, what stall speed is good? Thanks for you help all, once I get all this figured out I'll be going to the track and getting dyno chart for all to see! 4spdz34
1. gm make an oil control kit for the 3.4 dohc i bought it, it was 65$ works great. its for oil coming through the breather line from the front cam cover. 2. yes you can leave the belt on, but it might be harder that way 3. a different stall will help alot, i have 2800 and its great. i can get them for 140$ from gm if anyone wants one

Justin
Remember that a bad vac. modulator on your trans can leak fluid into your vacuum lines too...
fleetwoodguy79
Nope its not tranny fluid, its DEFINETLY engine oil.
Vegeta
What is included with that $65 kit? My cutty was drinking a quart every 400 miles. I was sure the PCV needs to be replaced, and nico had K&Ned the whole vacuum system so that would have been bad for the engine but spared this issue. There is a plate under the lower intake that has a PCV setup as well. I plan to replace it with another I have sitting around just in case that was also part of the problem. Really, clubgp didnt know...im shocked...hehe.

Clean the breather and oil mess, and next oil change cut the oil by 1/2 a quart or low withint safe operation levels. See if it stops the leaking 2 timing: i couldnt help ya 3 Tranny: i dont understand how changeing torqe converters would help. i would get a manual put in on the 3.4dohc instead of tuning up the automatic if your wanting more power gains on transmission. The 4t60e is a big powerloss compaired the the getrag
4spdz34
here ya go ben. right from gm EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION (REPLACE PCV HARNESS) #67-60-01 - (01/30/1997) SUBJECT: EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION (REPLACE PCV HARNESS) MODELS: 1991-95 CHEVROLET LUMINA, MONTE CARLO 1991-95 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SUPREME 1991-95 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX WITH 3.4L TWIN DOHC ENGINE (VIN X--RPO LQ1) CONDITION: SOME OWNERS MAY EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION OF ENGINE OIL. EXCESSIVE OIL USAGE IS DEFINED AS THE CONSUMPTION OF 0.95L (1 QT) OR MORE OF ENGINE OIL WITHIN 2,000 MILES OR 3,200 KILOMETERS. CAUSE: IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT ENGINE OIL IS BEING INTRODUCED INTO THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION SYSTEM (PCV) AND THEN INGESTED INTO THE ENGINE AND BURNT. TYPICALLY THERE IS NO SMOKE EVIDENT FROM THE VEHICLE'S TAILPIPE DUE TO THE EFFICIENCY OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT TO PROPERLY CHECK THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL ON A VEHICLE THAT HAS REACHED OPERATING TEMPERATURE THAT THERE IS A REQUIRED 20 MINUTE WAITING PERIOD (ENGINE NOT RUNNING) WHICH WILL ALLOW THE OIL FROM THE OVERHEAD TO PROPERLY DRAIN BACK INTO THE CRANKCASE. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN AN IMPROPER OIL LEVEL READING. CORRECTION: THE CAUSE FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION NOT DUE TO LEAKS FIRST MUST BE DETERMINED. OIL CONSUMPTION MAY RESULT FROM ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: - IMPROPER READING OF THE OIL INDICATOR. CHECK THE OIL ON A LEVEL SURFACE AND ALLOW A MINIMUM OF 20 MINUTES FOR DRAIN-DOWN ON A HOT ENGINE OIL. - IMPROPER OIL FILL AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. THE RECOMMENDED OIL FILL CAPACITY IS 5.5 QTS (5.2L) WITH OIL FILTER PF52. - IMPROPER OIL VISCOSITY. FOR 1991-95, USE SAE 5W30 VISCOSITY OIL. - EXTERNAL OIL LEAKS. - CONTINUOUS HIGH SPEED DRIVING, AND/OR SEVERE USAGE SUCH AS TRAILER TOWING WILL REDUCE OIL ECONOMY. - CRANKCASE VENTILATION. - PISTON SCUFFING. - EXCESSIVE PISTON TO CYLINDER WALL CLEARANCE. - WORN OR BROKEN PISTON RINGS. - WORN VALVE GUIDES AND OR VALVE STEM SEALS. - INADEQUATE SEALING OF VALVE FACE TO VALVE SEAT. IF THE ITEMS ABOVE HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE IN SATISFACTORY CONDITION, THEN IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE FRESH AND FOUL AIR SIDES OF THE PCV SYSTEM. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE. 1. REMOVE THE FUEL INJECTION SIGHT SHIELD. 2. REMOVE THE FRONT SPARK PLUG WIRES. 3. REMOVE THE FRONT CAM COVER AND REPLACE WITH NEW COVER, P/N 24505197. TIGHTEN BOLTS TO 11 NM (97 LB. IN.). 4. INSTALL NEW OIL FILL CAP, P/N 12551958. 5. REMOVE THE PCV SYSTEM EMISSION HARNESS AND INSTALL NEW HARNESS, P/N 24507504. 6. INSTALL NEW PCV VALVE, P/N 25095452. ON 1991-93 VEHICLES, REMOVE PCV HOSE AT UPPER MANIFOLD INLET AND REPLACE WITH P/N 24503122. 7. INSTALL NEW SPARK PLUG WIRES AND REUSE THE WIRE RETAINER CLIP FOR CYLINDERS 2-4-6. REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG WIRE RETAINER CLIP FROM THE METAL BRACKET AND REUSE JUST THE CLIP PORTION. 8. REINSTALL THE FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD. PARTS INFORMATION: PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM GMSPO ON 1/13/97. Vegeta
Oh ok, its the same thing lorenzo showed me. I thought it was something new, not replacing vacuum lines. I am using the 94 PCV harness setup right now, so I will just get a new PCV before I throw the engine back together.
