Aunt's 2005 Impala, won't shift into park.

Hey guys.

 

My aunt has a 2005 Impala with floor shift, and had a problem the other day. I believe it's likely a N/A 3800.

 

It's currently stuck in neutral, and refuses to go into park. And I guess the key came out of the ignition too, so my uncle undid the negative battery terminal, and set the parking brake.

 

Does anyone know what might be causing this? I was thinking maybe something was screwed up with the ignition cylinder, but I don't have the slightest idea.
