Galaxie500XL
Just managed to bread the the cruise control cable on the '95 LQ1 Cutlass... Is the cable the same on 3.1's, or is it different for the DOHC?
RobertISaar
i prefer beer batter on mine. however, alldata is saying a 95 LQ1 cutty should have a 10229127 cable, while the 3100 has a 10242544 cable. not saying they CAN'T work in place of each other, but i wouldn't bet on it. Galaxie500XL
Yeh, I typed that in a hurry, didn't realize i wrote "bread", rather than "broke".... I was afraid it was unique to the LQ1...any idea what years that P/N was used? Mine got broken while threading the air intake back on the car...the plastic that holds it to the cable bracket broke. I was glad at least it wasn't the throttle cable.
RobertISaar
every LQ1 above and below 94-95 seems to have a different part number, so i'd only be looking at 94-95 LQ1 cars.
ManicMechanic
I believe it's because 1991-93 were vacuum and 1996-7 had a different throttle body?
RobertISaar
i know the 94-95 units are "stepper motor cruise control II", no idea about the others. different TB on the 96-97 makes sense.
ManicMechanic
Yep, looked at a '93 - vacuum servo. 1994+ = electric servo.
Galaxie500XL
Thanks, everyone, for checking...I was kind of afraid that would be the case. I'm just glad it was the cruise cable--I can do without that one for a little while until I find a replacement.
GOT2B GM
I've got a spare one in my garage off my old 94 CS coupe LQ1 car if you're interested.
Galaxie500XL
I would be interested, cause it's the only thing broken on the car now...for a brief, shining moment, the car was 100%. I'll PM you. I've got a spare one in my garage off my old 94 CS coupe LQ1 car if you're interested.
