L36 swap

I need some help guys. im planning on doing a 3800 series 2 l36 swap into my 96 cutlass supreme sl this winter since the 3100 is getting tired 200 plus thousand miles o.O still will burn them off tho and my step uncle has the motor trans and computer is there anything else im going to need in order to do the swap? any help is appreciated thanks

You wont really wanna use the 97 GP PCM, IIRC it needs repinned to mate up the harness you should be using with is a 97-98 Lumina/Monte Carlo with the L36.

 

IIRC, the 97 GP L36 had the 4t60e trans. Not a good trans for the L36s torque. Get a 97-99 4t65e would be my recommendation.

 

If you need any parts for the swap, lemme know. I have most of everything needed including the harness that I can repin/rewire for you and a PCM. I have a bunch of new parts too (rad hoses, plugs, thermostat, some sensors) that I could prolly give you a good deal on for everything. I bought the stuff a while back to L36 swap a car, but never did it cause I can get low mileage LX9s way cheap.

Okay thanks ill be sure to get back to you sometime soon when it starts getting cold out. i love driving my cutty right now even tho its only a 3100 lol

.. BXX i know this is an older thread but do you have or still offer swapping harnesses??.. i have a 1989 GPSE with a 3.1 and i also have a complete 3.8 series II out of a 2000 GPGT .. i've already had the engine installed mechanically and it was mint but i got burned on a harness..so i pulled it and stuffed in a stock 3.1.. but i really wanna finish the 3.8 swap if i can find a harness..let me know

I can still do the harness, but you will have to supply me with an uncut 3800 harness from a 98 or 99 Lumina or Monte Carlo. It would run aboot $350 for me to rewire it.
