Addicted to eaton
Two issues. 1 is the idle. its like 3k rpm or will chug and missfire and surge really bad. i know its not the coils/icm/plugs wires. i changed them I also cleaned the Mas air flow (as it had oil in it from the LIMG going out and the previous owner hydro locking the motor). Should i change/ clean the TB knowing it was full of oil (I let it drain out the best i could lol.) What are the 3 sensors on the TB? i know one is the Throttle position sensor, and two is Idle air control valve? whats the 3rd one? IIRC there is 3) Should i change them. or swap out the tb's with sensors. the motor ran Great in the Grand am so... I used the impalas tb/ upper intake because the design was different where the RGR valve hooks up. Should i change the egr? could it cause this? Issue two. the speedo works when it wants and just jumps around/flickers causing the transmission to No shift (IIRC it wont shift if the sensor is messing up will it? Should i replace it? or try cleaning it? what interchange. would the 1996 monte carlo i have work. IIRC they both have 4t65E's correct? RobertISaar
96 MC is a 4T60E, VSS being wonky will cause all kinds of problems, lack of shifting included.
95 vert
Sounds like a major vacuum leak on the idle. Check the wiring to the VSS down near/at the trans. Wires may be shorted to ground or each other.
Addicted to eaton
will do that i ordered a new sensor. and the Grand am intake and impala intake are diffrent. and i knew that...But ithought it was Just were the EGR mounted. BUT it really seems like the vacume leak is from the intake so i guess im gonna swap them out.
Addicted to eaton
Vacume leak is solved.. lol. the intake was the cause. Now it runs worse. i also changed the TB and all the sensors in it. Now the car will barly run. chug out missfire etc, No idle. WTF gives!? i unpluged the mas air flow sensor (the one between the tb and intake) and the car revs up to like 2500 RPM and Seems to run ok. Addicted to eaton
its giving me hell. Man, i feel so stupid because i can not figure this this car out. When i put the new motor in i switched intakes.to keep the EGR from the impala. I soon came to understand that the last guy that did intake gaskets. stripped like 4 of the Intake bolts and JB wleded threads. So last night i pulled it down to the heads. and put lower and upper intake gaskets. and changed the lower intake. Now the car does not have a high idle. BUT it has a bad miss fire, Hard to start, and just runs like shit. Give me ideas? coils good, ICM good, gaskets are all torqued good. The first time i went to drive it the VSS was messed up my speedo would jump up the fall back down and the transmission would not shift. i went and bought a new one. now the transmission shifts, But the speedo does not work at all
95 vert
Sorry man, I don't come on here too often. FPR isn't leaking, is it? Does it have any codes? Is the wiring ok to the VSS?
Addicted to eaton
yeah I guess the VSS is working. because now it shifts right and the odometer is working. Just now showing my speed. So i guess the speedo is bad. and the high idle was the bolts that hold the intake plenum to the lower intake were stripped. I changed the lower intake. and it solved it now its starting to idle high again (i checked it and the Intake has like 3 cracks in it (it had one But i put JB weld on it lol. now im gonna change the intake.
