92EuroScott
So I was under my car yesterday checking things out when I noticed this, so I grabbed a socket to tighten it and it won't turn, it just kinda wiggles in place. Can anyone help me? Here is a picture of the other side which is fine.
mra32
Thats a mount for your monoleaf, it should be tight. Its most likely a bolt in a nut captivated by part of the subframe. The bolt is probably damaged/rusted and will likely fully break if you try to tighten/loosen its. Don't quote me on this, because its been a while since I looked at the rear suspension of a W. You might be able to get away with getting a new nut and bolt from the junkyard (Not sure a dealer would be able to help you, but its worth a try) and installing it without dropping the rear subframe. If you have to drop the rear subframe, thats a bit more involved. Either way, I wouldnt attempt repair without spares on hand. As is, thats probably not fun to drive on, and I definitely wouldnt drive with it fully broken
GutlessSupreme
they're not so much nuts as stamped steel plates with "threads" cut into them. Both bolts screw into the same plate. The plate has "spring" tabs on the right and left sides that kinda just keep them from falling out of the rear subframe (that said, they were still kinda a bitch to get out, iirc). They slide into the rear subframe through openings in the front and rear of the subframe, but you kinda need the monoleaf out of the way. Actually, I think I removed them with the whole subframe out of the car, so I'm not really sure how difficult it would be to swap them while it's still in the car. Definitely won't be a pleasant experience & will be a decent amount of work for how stupid of a piece it is.
white4d96
I've had one bolt on each of mine broken for almost a year. It clatters like hell over bumps but it's held up so far. Those bolts WILL break if you so much as look at them funny (I soaked mine in WD40 for 30+ hours and they still snapped from a 1/4 drive ratchet ) I was told it would be a PITA to replace them. I'm going oilcover anyhow so I just left them.
