torque converter lockup?

Got my pcm from a 02' GTP.

Also, my converter is locking at 28mph..does it under light throttle. Likes to lockup at 30 when i start going up a hill. Or any kind of load really.

i thought it was a little soon.. No, I am on the gas. Say enough to hold your speed flat ground. Or giving it a little

more gas for an upcoming hill. I am just trying to figure out if this was off, or if it is bad for the converter to cycle so much

at that low of speed. Plus it lugs the hell outta the motor. This is my DD right now, think it will be safe to drive untill

i can get it tuned?

Or should i try and disable the TC from the brake switch?

Or just park it till it can be tuned? Does this sound like an issue from having a GT trans and using a stock GTP pcm?

Sounds right? so its normal for the torque converter to cycle on/off on/off at 30mph

while lightly on and off the gas? Seems like alot of cycling...locked....30mph....slight hill....bog.......let off gas..unlock..get on gas....

get to the top of the hill...let off the gas..unlock.....same condition on flat ground with the light throttle and letting off.

i would think this should be in the 40 to 50mph range.

no that is Not normal. it should lock and unlock alot on a hill at slower speed though. most every 3800 i have seen hunts for the tq... ill just come up and ride in the car and tell you if its normal or not i ahve had 5-6 l67 cars and rode in 40-50

that would be great. i was trying to get reptile to drive it..he seems busy though.

i can meet u half way...car does alright on the highway. say in kearney? or if you feel like a drive come on out.. i may have some free time this weekend..just let me know

every 3800 you have seen hunts for the tq.. on a hill? what about engage at the bottom of a hill and wants

to stay engaged up the hill "at low speeds" bogs or lugs the motor and it wont disengage up that hill unless you let off the gas?? then get back on the gas a little more so it wont lockup again up that hill..

shouldnt it unlock on its own when the motor starts bogging down?

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but doesn't the chart Bob posted show it locks up at 30mph?:think:

 

i looked at that and was thinking the same thing....lockup at around 1/8 pedal, 30mph
