redynscire
alright, so i got a GT 4T65e bolted to my L67 swapped monte. i am using an Stock 02' GTP pcm..... I should have a p0730 code.(wrong gear) But i don't.?. I've drove the car a couple hundred miles.. Only issues are, converter seems to lock early.. doesn't unlock when it needs to. I have had this thing scanned at the auto parts store a couple times now. Every time it was scanned there were no tranny codes??
Jssuper
Correct me if I am wrong, and one of the tech gurus on here will know for certain, but p0730 will show when the FDR (or the Axle ratio) is different. IE.. if the GTP PCM is set for a 2.86:1 and your trans has a 3.05:1 then it pops the code... so in your case it likely has the correct axle ratio for the pcm. redynscire
i didnt think anyone was gonna answer.. but that is what i was thinking, its not throwing p0730 cause the FDR is the same 3.29. but i wasnt sure.. so would it be safe to drive this thing here and there? or should i park it till i can get the trans tables changed? Andrew
could the trans reluctor ring have been swapped to fool the pcm? would explain the odd lockup tendencies too.
AL
I am running the same set up as you are without any codes... I have a 98 GTP PCM (GTPs got 2.93 gears) and I am running a GT trans with the HD diff swap (GTs got 3.29 gears)
redynscire
I am running the same set up as you are without any codes... I have a 98 GTP PCM (GTPs got 2.93 gears) and I am running a GT trans with the HD diff swap (GTs got 3.29 gears) on the stock tune? when does your converter lockup in third? ive noticed at WOT my shift into third seems to bog, then grabs, rpms jump up about 600 rpm. it is like the converter locked on the shift into third, then unlocks after a second?? Addicted to eaton
your fine there. Like i said reptile will tune it. but that is what i was thinking, its not throwing p0730 cause the FDR is the same 3.29. It does have the wrong gear ratio. unless you put a GTP diff on the GT transmission. You have a GTP PCM, it thinks the gears are 2.93's You have a gt transmission so you have 3.29 gears in the transmission. Your in the clear with the year thought 03 needs 03 pcm, 1997-2002 are the same 4t65e-HD's in the gtps 03 is the odd year 97 is the odd year on gt's = 4t60E 98-03's are 4t65E's 03 still being the odd year needing an 03 pcm. See the confusion? Reptile is local and can tune your pcm very quick. Im sure he might do it for less then 50 for just a gear change. But i strongly recommend getting a full tune (you will love it) Edited June 13, 2011 by Addicted to eaton
redynscire
your fine there. Like i said reptile will tune it. i talked to reptile, he said he could tune it "sometime" he is busy from the move. his desktop with the DHP program is still boxed up. i need this thing tuned now, not "sometime"
