nickmazda3
hi, one week ago i tried bouth a buick gs 1997 212km (130 miles) the driver information panel was dead so after reparation i found that my boost was at 3psi instead of 7psi. i hear a sharp noise like a whistle i that it was the sc it self but someone thold me my sc could't make this noise at low speed and sertanly not at 3psi. the noise is heard when i drive from start to when i stop (no sound on park or neutral even if i give gaz). the sound is there even if i give a little gaz or full throttle. i check my hose, there was one disconnected and one a bit crack, i replug the one disconnected and i taped the one a bit crack. then went for a test drive but still same noise and not boosting more than 3psi. yesterday i spray throttle body cleaner on the hose crack and on other hoses suspectible to leak and my idle didn't varies so i have no idea what could cause my boost to be at 3psi i heard my strap or my tensionner could be the cause, how can i check these ? my strap got microcracks but nothing major and is there a adjusting bolt on the tensionner? and i got a check engine maf sensor but i dont think the a link so il you got recommendation or idea let me know.! xtremerevolution
Sounds like you have one or multiple vacuum leaks. Check the vacuum hoses.
Galaxie500XL
Bad boost bypass solenoid. It's stuck partially open, would be my guess, if you aren't finding any other vacuum leaks.
nickmazda3
And where is it?
xtremerevolution
And where is it? Number 3 circled is the boost bypass valve. The solenoid would be attached to it somewhere. This is very likely a vacuum hose related issue as it is extremely common. Follow the vacuum hose under the supercharger snout in both directions, and check the hoses around the throttle body and the region pictured above. nickmazda3
ok thx, is it normal that my vacum hoses are not like this model?
xtremerevolution
ok thx, is it normal that my vacum hoses are not like this model? They might be a bit different but the concepts should be the same. I recall the 99 and older being different from the 00-03 Sent from my HTC Awesome using Tapatalk
GP1138
Thank you for that picture, Andrei. I'm having the same problem with the SSEi, they butchered that valve with RTV and zipties and I bypassed it, but I needed to see the actual hose routing. I didn't actually take it, but I'm glad it helps. If you need more pictures, I can go out and take some of my engine.
