tgriffit009 Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Hey there guys, I know very little about Luminas...I am fully engrained in the old Bmw culture. However my best friend and mechanic is GIANT Lumina fan and helps me out all the tim and I want to get him some performance parts...his car is already as fast as my old 6 series so props to GM for making a very fun and fast car haha The car: 1996 Chevy Lumina Gen 1.5 Parts: 1) Looking for a well constructed cold air intake 2) A performance chip - I need a plug in performance tuner correct? Thanks for the help guy!! Hope to get to know you all and look forward to owning a Lumina of my own one day Its truly more of a sport cars than I could have ever imagined Quote
BXX Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 a lumina is not a fast car by any means. Can it be made fast? Yes.. How? Engine swap. Which Engine? Depends on budget and skillset. No performance chip out there, its a flash PCM. Install a 97 Lumina PCM, its plug and play, and then tune the PCM with HPTuners ( http://www.hptuners.com) That's assuming you have the 3100 and not the 3.4L DOHC engine No premade cold air intakes out there, you'll have to make your own.
