mgosse
I have a 1996 Grand prix that recently lost the motor, the body is in impeciable condition and i really dont wanna thow the body away, With that said I also have a 1991 Grand Prix 3.1 with and excellent running engine and trans but the body is toast. Is the Motor from the 91 a direct swap into the 96? The motor and trans seem to be the same to bolt in but my concern is the wiring hooking up fine without making a mess of a harness. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
BXX
No. They are different engines and transmission running much different engine management systems. You would have to do massive wiring just to get it to happen, not to mention you would love power, smoothness, and efficiency.
Jonpro03
It would be WAY too complicated to get a 3.1L working in a car that came with a 3100. Just thinking about it makes my head hurt:think:
Crazy K
can it be done? yes. should it be done? NO you would have to use the complete powertrain from the 91 with the 91's computer and everything would require rewiring at the c100 connector... unless you want to put $$$$$$$$$$$$ into a tune... by the time that is all said and done, you would have a car that is not emissions legal anywhere in the USA. You can get away with it if you live in places that don't check... but it would be easier to just grab another 3100... or go 3400/3500 with a tune....
