calebj06
So the cruise on my 93 sutlass has stopped working i tried replacing the multi function switch with one from the local yard but it didn't work either. What is the next place to look? I swear without it im gonna get a ticket, this car likes to run right at 80mph.
Crazy K
does the HVAC work properly? if not, you have a broken vacuum line somewhere below the brake master cylinder...
3pt1lumina
Check vacuum lines going to the modulator. Mine I had one that was never connected but the car never ran funny with out it. Until I plugged it in then it was like night and day power-wise, and my cruise worked!
Schurkey
The last time I had cruise control problems, it turned out to be an abraded hard plastic vacuum hose below the battery. There is a vacuum reservoir in front of the left front wheel. It is in-line with the cruise control transducer. With a vacuum leak, the cruise would work but not hold speed properly especially at higher speed or going uphill. As the vacuum leak got bigger, the cruise stopped working altogether. Simple fix--once I had the airbox and battery out. I just clipped out the bad section of vacuum hose, and spliced the two sections together with rubber hose. Then I covered the rubber hose with larger and heavier rubber hose, split lengthwise so I could wrap it around the inner hose to protect it.
