joecutlass Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Sometimes disconnecting the battery wont clear the trouble codes. Go to a mechanic that has a scan tool and have them clear the code. Quote
joecutlass Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Thats also true. Or maybe the wires got crossed when you installed the new connector Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Why is this in FAQ and not in powertrain? And what is the actual code you are getting? Quote
urbex Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 If you don't use a scan tool to clear the code, won't it take a few miles of driving for it to reset? Quote
dodgethis Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 If you don't use a scan tool to clear the code, won't it take a few miles of driving for it to reset? More than likely, especially it being the EGR. I would just go to autozone and have them scan the code, and have them clear it. It will more than likely come back if there is a wire broke, pinched, or whatever until its actually checked out and fixed. Quote
RobertISaar Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 the OBD1.5 PCMs have 2 sets of DTCs, current codes and history codes. current codes go away at key-off and get stored as history codes. if they get triggered again, they are set as both history and current. it takes quite a few drive cycles to clear the history codes, somewhere around 50 IIRC. i can't remember if history codes will trigger the SES light though. AL Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 I have a feeling its the intake clogged up because I dont remember seeing a code for it not being plugged in... Quote
RobertISaar Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 if it's not plugged in, and the PCM commands it on in a high vacuum situation, like coasting down from 70MPH, the PCM will most definitely set a code for it, since it wants to see a significant vacuum drop during a test of all 3 solenoids.
