brother pig
A friend of mine has a 95 grand prix, and the battery keeps going dead on him. After I told him to change the battery (it was original equipment!) I we thought it was fixed. We thought wrong. Anyway, he doesn't know much about cars, and I told him I would help him change it if I could. The problem is, I can't get home to a shop, so is it possible to change an alternator in a 95 grand prix with the 3.1 parked on the road, or at least in someone's driveway? (we're both at school right now) Is it possible to do it with minimal tools? (I've never changed one in a grand prix; or even a FWD for that matter!) Thanks
Robby1870
Yes, its very easy to do with normal tools. 10mm wrench for the power cable bolt, then I think 3 13mm bolts hold the alternator on. Its just a little tight back there, but it can be done. Rotate the motor forward if you need to. Dont forget to disconnect the battery before starting
grandprix104
very easy i did it for a guy in the parking lot at work yesterday. the only tricky part of the process is putting the belt back on. It can be a PITA.
