What's that plug for?

I was recently doing some regular checks on my 89 Cutlass(2.8) and when I was checking the vacuum to the transmission modulator, I could see a white colored plug under the intake air box. It was a 3 socket female plug. There was nothing plugged into it, and so I was wondering if anyone knows what exactly it's there for?

THANKS!:)

does it lead to the harness up near the IAT sensor(if you have one? I've never worked on 89 so I personally do not know)? if so, it's probably just the test port, there are a few in pretty much every car w/ a computer for various testing purposes.

I BELIEVE that this pic shows the plug that I am referring to:

I am going back out tonight to check and make sure that this plug was the one that had nothing connected to it...
