4Birdman98
OK, here's what I've got: Brother's 98 GT 2-door with NA 3.8 Wrecked 2000 GTP with 3.8L SC Both complete and running. We want to supercharge his GT, but trying to figure out the easiest way to do it. Complete swap with engines and wiring and all. Top swap, maybe some new pistons and rods in the L36 for strength. I know with the top swap we'll need a new fuel pump and I guess injectors because we'll be building it up, but will all the wiring be the same with a top swap? AL
Since you have the complete motor, I would use that as its more work to top swap than it is to just drop the l67 in... Yes you will need to upgrade fuel pumps but in your case you can just use the one out of the parts car... I believe your 5 speed swapping the car which means you will need to figure out a way to do the wiring with that... Kuntzies thread should help Side note, where are you located? Andrew
id swap over the whole engine and trans. Take the rad and electric fans too. Swap over the coolant overflow tank, fuel pump, pcm, and intake. for maint sake, id replace the engine and trans mounts while you are at it. 4Birdman98
Are there a lot of wiring issues going from a 98 L36 to a 2000 L67?
AL
No, just the boost bypass and something else but I cant remember what it is
White93z34
you have to add wiring for the BBV or set it up to run on atmosphere, Caspers/intense etc sells that harness for cheap. you have to extend the map wiring/change the plug. you can extend it yourself or buy a overpriced, under-engineered extension from one of the other aforementioned vendors, guess which one I chose. Swap your fuel lines over from the parts car, for a stock swap the fuel pump should hold up fine, might be a good idea to swap pumps none the less. AL
Now that I think about it, would it really hurt to just swap the engine bay wiring harness?
White93z34
depends what wiring differences there are between 98' and 00' Its easy to modify for the L67 on a L36 harness so I'd do that personally.
4Birdman98
We'll probably do that then, seems easy enough.
