dodgethis
Well I had stopped by a gas station put gas in the car, and while i turned the key over, the car would not start. I knew it wasn't the battery as I had a DMM with me, and it checked out. I will say the fuel pumped primped every time when i tried to turn the key over. Each time i tried the dash lights dimmed, and the starter never turned the engine over. I popped the hood and tapped the starter with a wrench in hope it would better my odds of getting the car to start, it didn't. After i putt the key to run, and cycled all gears and returned it back to park, and tried to start the car, she came back alive. Is this a sign of a starter going out, or is it more a shifter linkage cabling of some sort? Patient: 98 Lumina, 3100, she got as of today 111,500 miles

jman093
I'm with Bob. Clean up your battery cables and see of it stops. Sidepost batteries are pure, unadulterated evil.
joecutlass
Yea, sounds like a park neutral switch to me
dodgethis
I'll look over the battery cables, but they are not corroded at all. Let me in on this neutral switch is it inside the column?
dodgethis
Damn me....are you serious? So the Neutral switch is what allows you to put the car in park or neutral in order to start it?
