I'm looking to run something loud on my gp. Duals. I want to hear what everyone else is running other than stock replacment. Flowmasters, cherry bombs, whatever your running. I'm kind of into the obnoxiously loud exhaust.

What year is your GP? If you have an l67 and want loud and obnoxious find out what Galen is running on his silver GTP and run that :leaving:

obnoxiously loud? straight pipes?

I have 2.5in cat-back exhaust, magnaflow rounds(magnapacks is what they call them), dual angle cut outlets (thinking about resonated tips), its much louder than I anticipated, I eventually sound proofed the interior helped a great deal, but the trunk needs it. Has nice deep rumble at idle. Combine that with a semi open air filter box, my car is loud.

On my old Galaxie, I ran "Cherry Bomb" glasspacks, installed BACKWARDS. The baffles were pointed away from the exhaust flow. One advantage, the fiberglass lasts longer, and you do get some noise reduction at idle. At WOT, basically acted like straight pipes, people a block away would look to see where the sound came from.

Even my wife liked the sound, though I'll admit, a 289 Ford will have a very different note than a V6.

So, my brother used to have an 86 monte carlo. A week before he blew the motor, he mounted two cherry bombs. Now. I have them. The isue is here, I got under the car, and there is no way these are going to mount where the existing mufflers are. They are almost twice the length. So here's the question. Should I replace the resonator with one cherry bomb and 2.5" pipe it back to just dual exhaust tips instead of the mufflers? Anyone running something similar?

I'm running dual Cherry Bomb glasspacks in place of the stockers on my GP. I used the newer short glasspack model with extensions and they fit in without having to hack up the Y pipe or the tips.

thats what i wanted to run, but for dirt cheap, i couldnt say no. maybe ill just sell these and get two fresh new bombs. now do i have to get the angled bombs? the stockers are offset on the inlets and outlets, correct me if im wrong.

copy Adam's setup.

it will probably sound horrible on a 3800, but any 3x00 should sound great with it.

this.

even the local LS1 and mustang guys who shit on my car have even said it sounds way better than the car should

....they give me a hard time for having a GP. :willynilly:

Last week was really the first time I've put serious miles on the car since I put the exhaust on last July and I found myself NEVER listening to my $$$ stereo in my car and only listening to the exhaust while cruising. I love it. and it's a cheap set up too. the only real cost is the ~$80 resonator and my C6 tips. Everything else is piping.

I'll try to get pictures tomorrow.

Pissing down rain, got out of work late, and exhausted... so yeah, I'll try again tomorrow. Sorry .

my exhaust along w/ my intake....I can be heard 2 blocks away coming or going at at least maybe half throttle. Full throttle and it turns heads.

Even cruising down side streets I get people turning heads to see what is making that sweet song.

This will give you an idea. When I'm speeding up on the dyno before I punch it, i'm doing 1/4 throttle and stop at 30mph in second to give you an idea.

Absolutely LOVE the sound...wish my LQ1 sounded like that... One of the few V6 aftermarket exhausts I've heard that didn't sound raspy, at least to my ears...

Is the vid from your run last week?

I was looking at it. You have no mufflers. A resonator. 2.5 stainless? C6 tips. I want to run a cherry bomb. For a resonator and. 4 inch angled dual outlets.

IMO, Vibrant performance makes a far better/less expensive resonator than Cherry Bomb.

In my GTP I ran a 2.5" walker Cat, 2.5" x 18" Vibrant resonator, magnaflow Y pipe (2.5" into two 2.25"), two magnaflow Mufflers

I will find a video of that set up later today

Too bad about the wind noise, I never did end up making a better one....

This is what it sounded like when it came off the GTP, and should sound pretty much the same when I put it on the cutty in the next couple weeks here

No offense but I'm reminded why I didn't buy cherry bombs!

Go longer resonators, mine are 18", I had a 10" on the exhaust what I first installed it and it was raspy as fuck!

the ones i got cheap must be 26 inches, not sure, never measured them. thats why i was thinking of just running one in place of where the resonator is and going out to two 4" outlets
