heater pipe quick disconnect

Guys,

I want to get rid of the heater pipe quick disconnect fitting. It seems that it could be replaced with some kind of hose fitting. Is there an aftermarket replacement (Dorman?) or maybe the plumbing item? What is the thread size of the quick disconnect?

Why get rid of it??? That's just a bunch of needless work.

Buy a new one for about 10 to 12 bucks, lubricate the internals with dielectric grease and don;t worry about it. replacement part is made by DORMAN, part number available in the parts thread.

If I remember correctly, Anton lives in Israel...not sure about the availability of Dorman parts there, I think he's looking for something simple, and easy to locate. Even if he CAN find it there, the cost of auto parts is extremely high....he's probably hoping a plumbing supply house might fix the problem and save a few shekels. :)

That's right, the cost of auto parts is extremely high in Israel. I can get the Dorman disconnect on ebay though. A couple of years ago I replaced my fitting with a new one that I bought from a local GM dealer. Recently I did the intake job again. While removing the LIM I left the heater pipe connected to the LIM. I replaced the LIM gaskets, put RTV and torqued the bolts. Then I realized that the heater pipe is not aligned properly - the tab of the pipe is supposed to be secured to the block and my pipe was slightly rotated downwards so the securing tab was below the fixing stud. I afraid that vibrations can disrupt the tight seal of the pipe inside the fitting. Later, I somehow tied the pipe to the fuel line-supporting bracket with a piece of steel wire just to secure it a little bit. I would hate to remove the plenum right now, but I thought it could be useful to get some kind of replacement for the quick disconnect fitting just for the case it leaks. These quick disconnects seems to me not so reliable and I thought the barbed hose fitting could do the same job.
