anton74
What is the purpose of the twisted pair inside the plastic wire loom that connects to the coil pack on 3100 SFI engine? It looks like it is going to the block. On my car this cable is touching the exhaust manifold and the plastic wire loom is melted. I already changed the loom a couple of times and I want to find a permanent solution for this (reroute the wires?). Thanks, Anton.
AL
It comes from the knock sensor and you can use a ziptie to tie it away from the exhaust... My buddies GA had the wires melt from the exhaust and it wouldnt start
anton74
Thanks AL. I will try to ziptie it tomorrow. Do you think that using a piece of heater hose as a wire loom can isolate the wires from the exhaust?
AL
If you can ziptie it away from the exhaust, you wont have to worry about the loom

RobertISaar
twisted pair and goes to the ICM? that's the 7X crank sensor, you definitely don't want to lose that.

Jonpro03
Is the wire shielded? That'd be the the crank sensor.
anton74
No, the wire is not shielded.
