unclehotte
Hello. After a lot of reading on w-body today I came to the idea that I CAN install a DIC into my 92 Cutlass Int. (supposed to be just plug and play?) Does it have to be from a cutlass??? I saw one on ebay for a 88-91 Olds Regency. Is that one good to go for my car or does the year have to fit??? Thanks for any help.
94 olds vert
I know the DIS was used on several different cars. They all will look the same on the outside, but may have some internal differences and different color wires. With a 1992 cutlass...You should be able to install it and just plug it in and everything should work. I installed a DIS into my car that was from another cutlass. Welcome to the forum! When you have a chance post up some pictures of your car. I'm a sucker for a 92 International.
ManicMechanic
DIS is not plug and play on a 1992, it will have to be wired in.
virtuetovice
Post a link if you could. If it's the same setup and connector as the Cutlass ones it should work.
94 olds vert
huh...but will it still function 100%? They are very easy to wire in. I've done it. Take a look at this link: http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/43927-Cutlass-DIS-installation-info
unclehotte
Hey 94 olds vert......After I see your pic I really want it now. I was happy to have the HUD in my cutlass. (Main reason I bought the car and got rid of my 88 Cutlass) But next to the HUD control I only have the (standard) hole right now.
ManicMechanic
It will function fine.

ManicMechanic
it will work but can be found much cheaper.
unclehotte
Much cheaper???? I like that idea. But were??? It took a long time for me to find this one.
94 olds vert
I would make a WTB thread in the for sale section of this forum. That is where I found mine and it was cheaper than the Ebay one.

unclehotte
Hmmm....this dont like like plug and play connection anymore. I am getting second thoughts on this job. I was hoping to install it and plug the two pigtails into a socket.
94 olds vert
It's really not all that difficult. I've done and it took me maybe 45-1 hours tops. It is a cool option to add to your car.
LuminaPower92
I thought the 3.4 needed a Shaun chip to work for the fuel economy?
94 olds vert
I thought the 3.4 needed a Shaun chip to work for the fuel economy? Yes, they do. But all the other functions will still work properly. He has a 92 with OBDI so his fuel economy stuff with work. 1994s will not work unless they have a chip. unclehotte
I am glad to hear that. The main reason I want the DIC is for the average mileage.
unclehotte
A quick (unrelated) question: On the Electronic Climate Control the temperatures are shown in Fahrenheit. Is there a button combination or so that i can change it to Celsius???

unclehotte
Yes it does. And it does change HUD from miles to Kilometers.
