TeeJay3800 Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 My '90 Cutlass has the 4T60 transaxle with the optional 3.33 final-drive. Can anyone tell me what the ratios are for each gear on this particular transmission? Also, what other final-drives were available on this car and what is gained by the 3.33 upgrade? :?: Quote
GrandPrix34 Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 a member here wit a boosted DOHC, brain89gp if i recall correctly, has them listed in his webpage...try contacting him Quote
Robby1870 Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 Alright, 1st 2.9 2nd 1.6 3rd 1.0 4th .78 (I think) The FDR of 3.33 is the only one that came with the 4T60. The 4T60E that came mated to the 3.4 DOHC had a 3.43 FDR Quote
GrandPrix34 Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 thanks robby! Good to know there is alot of knowledgable people on this board... Quote
ismellrealbad Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 so does that .1 make the car accelerate slower? i realy think i should notice 20 more stock hp over a regular 3.1 more than i actually do...........either that or my motor is a total shitbox, and lately im really beginning to think that. Robby1870 Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 the 3.43 only came in 4T60Es mated to the DOHC. But it would make them accelerate faster than the 3.33, theoretically Quote
TeeJay3800 Posted October 11, 2003 Author Report Posted October 11, 2003 I'm surprised to hear that the 3.33 was all that was offered. I have the original window sticker for the car and under "Options" it has 3.33 final-drive listed. Thats why I assumed there where lower FDs available as standard equipment. But I assume you know more about that than me so you're probably right. Quote

Something makes me think that 4T60s in other bodies may have had a different FDR (like a cavaliers or something), but Im not for sure. But 3.33 was all that was offered in Ws Quote
brian89gp Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 http://www.brian89gp.com/other/transmission.htm All w-body's with the exception of the DOHC came with the 3.33 differential and 35/35 chain. The DOHC cars got the 33/37 chain and 3.06 differentail. The only way to upgrade the gearing in the 3.33 cars is to change the chain ratio. Quote
TeeJay3800 Posted October 12, 2003 Author Report Posted October 12, 2003 I found the gear ratio spread sheet on brian89gp's site. Very informative and well presented. Since 3.33 was the only final-drive on W-body 4T60s, why did Olds even bother to put that on the window sticker under the options section? Weird. Quote
cutlassdude96 Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 there was a 3sp tranny advalible and a 5sp manual but only for the Quad4 engine Quote
Hippie Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 3.8 powered cars , some 3.3's I believe and Cadillacs got a 2.84 FDR. Somebody slipped one of those in my GP behind the 2.8 before I got it. :x Quote
