94 olds vert
I really want to relocate mine. I should of done it when I had to replace it. Here this link has a lot of pictures and info: http://60degreev6.com/forum/showthread.php/39344-96-3.4-DOHC-Custom-MSD-Ignition.-NO-56K They moved it to the top side of the engine which is a way better spot for it. Then being tucked under the front exhaust manifold. 95 and 96 it might be already there. I'm not sure. But it can be made to go there on the 94s. Steve
Thanks I just got mine out, they ought to make the engineers work on the things they design & I bet they would think twice about it!!! Took me 3hrs to get it out. ICM bad have a spare & old wire harness to get the twisted wire to relocate. Steve
Well hear is where I put it & it worked great. I welded up some mounting plates to the strut brace. Will be changing out spark plugs & wires next week.
RobertISaar
yeah, that's not too bad of a location... all 91-95 LQ1s (and all LH0s) have them up under the exhaust... 96 and 97 had them mounted above the belt drive, similar to the 3800 setup. and of course, the 3x00s (early ones at least, now sure about later) had them behind the UIM. Steve
I might make some sort of cover so you won't see the back side of the mounting plate. I just know there was NO WAY that was going back to the original location!
slick
From when I did mine. Took the bracket, flipped it upside down, put in a spacer, and called it good.
Steve
Looks good! I thought about that but didn't think there was enough room. All I know is that we don't have to go through that pain in the A.... Job again. I like how good you detailed the motor compartment, did you customize the cables or buy them premade? slick
Cables were pre-made to fit in the stock location. Obviously after the relocate I needed shorter cables. If I were to do it again, I would have had shorter cables made to the lengths I needed.
