Mkubiak396
is the computer in a 2003 impala cool with E-85? and if it isn’t is there a reflash for it? or a chip change out?
urbex
GM did not make cars E85 compatible until 2006. It would need to be refitted with different parts in the engine so as to not harm anything.
Mkubiak396
i for got to add I had a 2005 impala that listed in the user manual saying E85 was ok?
urbex
Well, I was under the impression that the '06 Impala was the first that could use it, but I could be wrong... Like I said though, if it isn't hooked up for it, you can't run it or the alcohol will damage parts like fuel lines and such. Maybe someone else who knows can chime in. RobertISaar
GM has been making flex-fuel capable vehicles since at LEAST 1991.... hell, there were Lumis that ran on methanol and propane. if your owner's manual states it's acceptable, then it can do it. keep in mind your fuel economy will drop and unless you're running boost or an increase in compression, you're not going to benefit from it. urbex
Really? They must have marketed that as well as Onstar...
