meltboy1 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Are the x-laces 16x7 115mm? what's the offset, I am looking to get aftermarket and wana make sure I get something that is going to work with no modifications. Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 16 X 8, 115 X 5 pattern, with something like a ~25mm offset? Quote
94 olds vert Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 The stock is 25mm. You should be able to run up to a 40mm offset... 42mm offset might be pushing it with a 8" wide wheel. Quote
meltboy1 Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 great, thanks! I'm thinkin a rim similar to this but just not as many spokes. 5 or 6 spoke with the red trim. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/16-Black-Konig-Zero-In-Wheels-Rims-5x110-5x115-5-Lug-/290550676176?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3APontiac%7CModel%3AGrand+Prix%7CYear%3A1990&hash=item43a62b7ad0 Quote
BXX Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 If your gonna spend money on new rims, I would go larger. 16" sucks:lol: I would recommend 18/19/20". I had 17s, too small, too much sidewall for our cars. 18x8 http://www.elites-wholesale.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/8193695/vpcsid/0/SFV/32431/sret/21013214221222217224225282213218283230219286217230219290233236295226225234243226239238235248247232241 18x8 http://www.elites-wholesale.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/9281643/vpcsid/0/SFV/32431/prods_per_page/240/sret/21013214221222217224225282213218283230219286217230219290233236295226225234243226239238235248247232241 Quote
AWeb80 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 i'm not a fan of the way bigger rims and their weight affect the handling of these cars. My GP handles WAY better w/ my 16's on there and some sidewall to give a little than it ever did w/ the 18's w/ less sidewall. The rims were heavy plus the weight was now farther out from center thus slowing accel and increasing the braking distance. The best decision I did for ride and handling was go back to the 16x8 stockers.....now if I could find some good 17x9 wheels w/a +30 offset and a lip...i'd be in heaven. Quote

And thats why the best handling cars in the world roll on 16" rims with big sidewall tires:lol: You cant sum up your car all in one. Ever rim weighs different, and even moar important, what tire (for handling) and the weight of the tire. Quote
AWeb80 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 the 18" tire I ran was very close in weight of the 16" tire I have now. The wheels....vastly different. The lighter the combo, the better....or why else are light suspension parts so sough after....ex: control arms, strut assemblies, etc. Quote
meltboy1 Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 if I didn't already have good kinda expensive tires on there already I might get a bigger size, but I love my tires and it handles great with em. I like these, but are 16x7.5, still work? http://www.elites-wholesale.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/9518225/vpcsid/0/SFV/32431 Quote
AWeb80 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Yes, they will work, but w/ that offset, they will be set in to the fender well and not be very flush. may look weird. Quote
BXX Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 20mm offset. http://www.elites-wholesale.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/9518228/vpcsid/0/SFV/32431 Need to see if those will be just right, or stick out more. Quote

Breakdown Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 The stock is 25mm. You should be able to run up to a 40mm offset... 42mm offset might be pushing it with a 8" wide wheel. There's many more variables than just the spacing between the hub and teh car, I'm pretty sure that I've seen 40mm offset rims that are 100% incompatible with our cars because of backspacing. Quote
