Code 32 set during coast-down from highway speed

'92 Lumina Euro 3.4, automatic trans, just a bit more than 120K miles.

I'm on the road for a few more days; and have no access to my service manual (left it at home.)

Have had the SES light come on three different times in 2000 miles; always during very light or no-throttle operation, coasting down from highway speed or coasting down a mountain road. (moderately high vehicle speed, very little throttle opening)

Scan tool shows Code 32, which I'm thinking is EGR solenoids.

Overall, engine runs just fine except "maybe" slightly rough at idle. Car will go 90+ mph without missing a beat. Even runs good while the SES light is on.

Any common problems with the EGR or common reasons for a Code 32?

I have some tools with me, but I suppose I'll actually dig into this AFTER I get home, since it doesn't seem to affect the way the engine runs.

my girlfriends 92 Euro 3.4 has done the same thing for eons now. Changing the EGR did not fix it. I suspect when I quit being lazy and get some carb cleaner and pipe cleaners that cleaning the EGR passage will solve the issue.

The only difference I found between this procedure, and the LQ1, is the LQ1 uses TWO EGR gaskets. One between the plenum and the EGR adapter, and one between the EGR adapter and the EGR. They are cheap, but they are NOT the same...the two gaskets are different. I've never successfully reused either gasket when the EGR was removed.

When I had this code on my 90 Lumina with a 3.1, I replaced the EGR and it didn't do anything. At the time I was working at a dealer, and one of the guys said that the upper plenum had to be taken off and cleaned. He did it for me and I've never seen the light again. I guess there was carbon build up in there.
