zog10
I have a 95 cutlass supreme sl with a 3.4L lq1. What is a good exhaust setup for power and sound? I was thinking magnaflow or some kind of glasspack setup.
digitaloutsider
Magnaflow and a resonator sounds nice.
Andrew
i would suggest searching youtube and listening to peoples setups, with LQ1 of course. But i agree that Magnaflows are the way to go, with or without a resonator.

zog10
If I do go magnaflow should i have it cat or non-cat? And should I have a resonator? Which way would be the best sound or least raspy?
Andrew
keep a cat to stay emissions friendly. Having a resonator would result in less rasp.
jake91
my old cutty stock + 2 magnaflows
digitaloutsider
There's really no reason to gut the cat. I'd leave it alone. It makes LQ1's sound especially assy.
zog10
Should i have the resonator as a glasspack?
Andrew
not sure what you are asking there.... Glasspacks and resonators are virtually the same design. Vibrant makes a res you can find on the net for around $60 IIRC. Get the 18" for best results. it is installed after the cat, before the Y to the mufflers. Glasspacks or resonators? And which brand would allow the most performance?
white4d96
I would get a resonator, glasspacks are known for having the fiberglass crap inside them deteriorate over time.
mrl390
I love the flowmasters on mine. Needs a resonator for sure. I think magnaflows are a little too buzzy IMO. Flowmasters are throatier. But like everyone else has said, go with a resonator as well.
Andrew
i still wanna hear some Flowmaster 50 series delta flows on a LQ1. as for the Res http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vibrant-Performance-Resonator-2-5-Inlet-18-Long-1793-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4839c9dff9QQitemZ310207176697QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
George
Hey Jake, Did yours have the regular Magnaflows muff's or the XL's and what resonator did you run? It sounds great. I put an 18 in Flowtech Red Hot glass pack resonator on mine (2 1/4 in). It is the spiral louvered style with the louver opening to the rear (advance auto parts $17) ok for now. I have always liked the sound of the Hooker aerochamber muff's and would like to try them when I upgrade to 2 1/2 in - 2 1/4in, but not sure how they will sound with the LQ1.
