Redfox340
Guys, getting a problem with the parents 2001 Monte Carlo SS that I cannot track down. Battery and alternator are pumping out correct amperage and voltage. However instrument cluster shows less than 8 volts present. All door lights, headlights, radio, instrument cluster, and alarm are adversely affected. It seems like low-voltage issues, but the battery CLEARLY shows ~12.9v from a multimeter test. Any details on what the low voltage problem for the car's electronics can be? - Erik
95 vert
Sounds like a loose, dirty connection or ground
AL
Not sure if its the same, but in the Trailblazers and others of that platform, but when the gauge cluster goes bad, it will show low voltage on the dash

I've normally found it to be a crappy ground issue.
Redfox340
I've normally found it to be a crappy ground issue. Been through the grounds inside the engine bay with no success. I'm up for any and all ideas of what it could be. - Erik
Redfox340
Solution Found: FAILED engine control unit (ECU). Cracked board and some bad soder points... Replaced for new ECU and car start and runs excellent. - Erik
