Rocketman
Thanks guys for all the feedback! I revised the pattern a little bit so that there is only minimal grinding to get it to fit into the 1x1 bar. I cast one set of brackets tonight, whos up first? Figured you guys might like to see how I make them. Here's an overview of the work I do to make one bracket- thumbnails are clickable Pattern ready to be molded Filling the flask with sand Sand rammed & struck off smooth Bottom flipped Parting dust, so top doesnt stick Filling the top half with sand Sand struck off smooth Mold separated Gating cut, pattern withdrawn to create the cavity Mold closed Ready for metal! Prepping the melt in my mini-furnace Poured! Mold opened up after ~10 min. Casting looks good! Tonights work - a pair of brackets & some other trinkets. I'll be drilling the brackets out tomorrow and first set should be ready to go by Monday or so. -Rocket

But if you're interested in producing these, I would put something in the group buy section, and just do a feeler as to how many might be interested. If you can get the price down to something reasonable, you should be able to get 20 sets sold, no problem.
Psych0matt
I have money ready right now
Rocketman
Right now I'm looking at around $55 a set shipped. Once summer rolls around and I can fire my big furnace, I can bring the price down a bit, I'll be able to make more at one time.
AL
That kind of work looks so neat!!
Rocketman
Thanks First set shipped to Pyschomatt, I will be making more this week weather pending (getting slammed with snow right now, so much for spring eh?) I'll set up a group buy within the next couple days. Are there any special rules for doing that here? A couple other forums I'm on are pretty strict about sales -Rocketman
white4d96
I can't help with the rule side of things, but when you get more sets made I would love to have one. Also, if you don't mind could you measure the height of the bar from the trunk floor? Like from the floor to the bottom of the bar? If I get a set of these I will have to build a new sub enclosure (which is on the list anyhow) according to those dimensions.
Psych0matt
just got mine, and they look great! Gonna try to grab a bar at work tonight so I can have a mini project this weekend

Rule #2: You actually have to ship stuff, not just collect money. Rule #3: Holes should actually line up with something or other, as opposed to nothing. Non-Chinese Matt should be able to confirm if you've broken any of those important rules shortly.

Psych0matt
Rule #1: Don't advertise stuff implying that it's metal when it's made of: cardboard, paper, newsprint . . . crackers. The cardboard actually does a good job as an RSTB mount, I was surprised! Really though, aluminum looks great, solid, very very nice product. Rule #2: You actually have to ship stuff, not just collect money. Already received, and attatched was a business card, I assume of which was purchased from an online bulk dealer where you pay $2 for 9 thousand of them (just bustin your balls ) Rule #3: Holes should actually line up with something or other, as opposed to nothing. Yep, once I got the bar to the right size it slipped right on Non-Chinese Matt should be able to confirm if you've broken any of those important rules shortly. No, I don't plan on doing that. maxlap21
Is there a group buy yet? I'll take a set for sure, they look very nice. Would the price be the same shipped to Canada?
AliasCT
Yeah, I'm IN! By the by, what size (length) bar would we need to buy for this setup?
virtuetovice
Wow those look great, and the price is RIGHT already. It's great that people still do backyard casting. I've always been really interested in it. $55 for anything custom made and done RIGHT is excellent. Have you thought about making any other parts? Rocketman
@white4d96: I have 13" between trunk floor and the bottom of the bar. @Max - Price will be bumped just a bit to cover the extra shipping to Canada, won't be too much more. Yeah, I'm IN! By the by, what size (length) bar would we need to buy for this setup? I used a 38" bar, I modded the braces a bit to be able to use a slightly longer bar, you might be able to use 39". Matt, how long did your bar end up being? My Home Depot sells the 1x1" 1/16"wall bar in a standard 48" length for about $15, I just cut it down. @Virtuevoice: I'm trying to think of other parts to make, right now in my mind are FSTB using the GMPD 2g bars, I'm thinking of casting a whole new strut top with a mounting pad. Thoughts on this? Also have thought of making various dogbone mounts similar to the FFP The weather's been real crappy here the last couple days, and I've had other parts rush order to fill so I haven't made any new sets yet. I plan on getting out there this afternoon and getting some more made. Thanks guys I'll post with updates!
white4d96
Some dogbones that could use poly bushings for mounts for the right price would be awesome.
RobertISaar
dogbones would be FTW and a hot item for more than just w-body.com
virtuetovice
Dog bones in the shape of actual bones would be full of win.
RobertISaar
i've always wanted a skull-shaped engine mount... call it the Hamlet
Twenty
New dog bones would be nice. Something beefier than OEM that would accept some upgraded bushings.
Rocketman
New dog bones would be nice. Something beefier than OEM that would accept some upgraded bushings. Thats what I was thinking. I have a 95, so I dont have the dogbones like my old 94...gotta hit the j-yard up. I'll need to find bushing to design the part around. Does anyone have a standard bushing # I can use? Psych0matt
I think I got a 48" bar and cut it off with my grinder
