19Cutlass94
Ok quick question. I need to change the tranny fuild and filter in the cutlass. Im well aware of the advantages Dexron VI has over Dexron III. I just have one question, can I just drop the pan, and fill with Dexron VI with no problems? I know i wont get the full benefit of Dexron VI being somewhat mixed with Dexron III. However this will not cause any problems correct? I was looking at the GM tech on this, and it says: "As with previous upgrades, DEXRON-VI fluids are designed to be backward compatible with earlier transmission hardware. But more important, earlier type fluids are NOT FORWARD COMPATIBLE with transmissions that were designed to use DEXRON-VI." So this means that older trannys will run fine on Dexron VI, but newer trannys that require Dexron VI will not do good on Dexron III. Correct? 19Cutlass94
nevermind... answered my own question... Can MaxLife ATF be mixed with Dexron VI or does the fluid need to be purged prior to installing MaxLIfe ATF? Valvoline MaxLife Dex/Merc ATF is 100% compatible with the Dexron VI for mixing or flushing a system.
