AWeb80
time for a newbie style post. I am getting 02+ U/L intakes and a TB from Pontiacmanic in a few weeks. I need to know what I'll all need to do this. Obviously gaskets....but what about brackets and such? Alt bracket or something? and what about the EGR? What is the process in doing this? I don't have roller rockers so I know I'll need to grind the intake, not afraid of that. I have a nice dremel that will take care of that. It's been SO long since I've been lower than an upper intake on these engines. I can't wait to see what this thing will do in addition to my current free flowing exhaust. Then next step will be and obd II swap
BXX
If your GP is a 95, you may already have the notches in the cylinder heads where you can just bolt on roller rockers. Other than that, you need gaskets, and a EGR adapter to retain your EGR. I believe that should be all
AL
Its a 94 BXX
AWeb80
I wish I could bolt on roller rockers.....if/when scorpion ever comes out w/ higher ration ones.
AWeb80
Where do I get an EGR adapter....Or can I make one myself....I am handy at that.
Jonpro03
EGR adapter http://wot-tech.com/shop/all/90-95-egr-to-2000-manifold-adapter/prod_75.html The alternator brace on the back of the alternator that runs to the UIM won't work anymore. Just go without it, I did and didn't have any problems. Also make sure you get at least a 56mm TB or you won't be doing yourself any favors with the intake swap. AWeb80
IIRC, isn't the 3400 TB 56mm?
AWeb80
what gaskets should I use again?
19Cutlass94
Keep your stock egr, and egr tube. Get an egr adapter from WOT-Tech. Youll need 3 egr gaskets instead of the two that your motor currently takes. Youll need the MAP bracket as well. If I remember right, alt brackets are the same. If your heads have the fulcrum roller rockers, youll be fine. if it has the stamped steel rockers, then youll need to shave a small amount of material off the LIM for clearance. Other than that, its just getting the gaskets. As far as power, youll see some improvement, but dont get disappointed if not as much as you thought. Your still using stock 1994 3100 heads... AWeb80
Thanks Jay. This is just a stepping stone till I figure out what I want to do next. ....now get your ass in gear and get your car done
AWeb80
btw, when my car was bone stock, a local friend did a top swap on his 95. We dyno'd and he put down basically 20 whp over me and our cars are identical and he had way more miles than me at the time. I'd like to think I'll get at least 20whp.....and this ole girl runs pig rich above 4k so an obd II swap and tune should help.

Jonpro03
A tune will most definitely help. Theres a lot of power that can be unleashed with just some spark table adjustments.
19Cutlass94
Have you hooked up an AFR gauge to see what the actual number is? I know mines 12.4 AFR at WOT. ( with the stock 3100PCM... still working on getting a tune though ) I mean youll gain some. It very well could be 20whp... but with the stock heads and log manifolds, its killing both of us power wise! I gotta get me some headers sometime soon! Unless he swaps back to OBDI or goes to OBDII... hes stuck with the 3100 PCM... Boooo!
AWeb80
remember, my manifolds I made....They already help a lot. I plan on getting on the dyno before the swap to see what I've gained just from them. Matt, I put down 124 whp....~20% loss puts that at 160 chp, so right on par for stock. Now w/ my Down pipe and manifolds, I can almost stay w/ him even though he is top swapped..... I hung right w/ buck to 80 when he had his 99 MC w/ the 3800.....I don't know if I had the manifolds at that time though.....
AWeb80
Jason, IIRC, my AFR was 10.0 on the dyno.... I have the chart somewhere.....hang on. EDIT BONE STOCK PULL IN 2ND GEAR I guess the AFR is better than I though Edited March 6, 2011 by AWeb80

19Cutlass94
yeah thats not bad at all. Im going to get mine dynoed soon... although I know the stock 3100 log manifolds I have are holding me back.
