white4d96
There's a 282'd CS at my local Pick N Pull. I don't think I can afford everything from it, so I was wondering what parts are W-body 5-speed specific. I know I will need: -axles (IIRC these are available new?) -pedal assembly -shifter and linkage -clutch master cylinder (better to get new?) -? Also, those of you that started with an auto, how do you trick the car into being able to start but rev over 4k? Can the car rev higher whenever it detects signal from the VSS or how does that work? I've seen a few Fiero GT's in junkyards with the 2.8 and a 5-speed. This is the 282 as well, correct? Any differences from the w-body one? RobertISaar
the only 282 you can use without even more fabwork is the W-body 282... supposedly though, the A-body 282 has the same case, which is the big issue since mounts are different for the other platforms that used it. Look for TGP Nick's posts about pulling parts from a junkyard out of a 282 Grandprix. Get EVERYTHING Nick says and you have yourself as easy and as pain free swap as you can. If you start to piece things together now, you will be forever searching that small part and this small part. Grab everything 5spd out of the car, or nothing in my opinion. white4d96
Ugh...I don't know. I really, really, REALLY want a 5-speed, but that's a lot more parts than I can afford, and I don't want to grab half the parts and come back to the car being gone... Maybe I should just shift-kit this one and buy an already 5-speed'd car later. Opinions?
AL
Dont shift kit this car and save your money for a 5 speed car later

I know, that's why this is killing me! :bang::bang: I really should get the suspension and engine mounts and whatnot sorted though instead of blowing all this money on a tranny swap.
