white4d96 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 My 3100 keeps revving itself to like 1500 and back down randomly at idle. No MIL's, haven't scanned for codes. Does it much more on cold starts. IAC? Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 i know you state randomly, but is there ANY kind of pattern? after a coastdown from a certain speed, just after cranking, when the sun comes out from behind the clouds? IAC is possible, PCV.... i guess, if it sticks intermittently, it might do it. MAF may also be suspect. tap on it with the handle of a screwdriver when it's acting both normal and crazy, see if it causes or fixes the issue. Quote
white4d96 Posted March 1, 2011 Author Report Posted March 1, 2011 There's no real pattern but its more frequent as the car warms up. I don't think it happens until after the temp gauge gets off the floor though. Quote
dodgethis Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Clean your Mass Air Flow sensor. I know My lumina started doing that everytime when i would restart. I went to town on the air box (just because i was bored), and took some Mass Air Flow cleaner and sprayed it well, and put back together, and haven't seen it do that in a while. Quote
white4d96 Posted March 3, 2011 Author Report Posted March 3, 2011 Lo and behold I have maf cleaner! I have a list for Friday when I get off work since I'm going to stay up anyways (I work nights now) so I will try it then. Quote
