bronze93
I bought a rebuilt power steering rack for my car the other day and it finally came in today. The problem is it is missing the port for the pressure switch. Is it necessary that I hook it up? Thanks
94 olds vert
The pressure switch tells the PCM when it get too hot and exceeds its normal operating temp. It will either raise engine idle or disengage the a/c pump to prevent stalling. I just replaced the rack in my car. (3.4l). I would recommend that you put in new bushings while your there. It made a big difference on my car.
bronze93
What bushings are you referring to? The rack I received had new bushings installed in it where it mounts to the subframe. Are those the ones? 94 olds vert
Yeah the bushings on the rack. Mine didn't come with any... weird. I bought MOOG power steering rack bushings and I can't complain about them.
BXX
The pressure switch has nothing to do with temp:rolleyes: Its there to tell the PCM when the steering system is under demand so it can adjust idle to keep it from stalling. My 95 CS doesnt even have the pressure switch.
