Jssuper Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 So now that I have all new CV axles, brakes, disks, drums, and front wheel bearings on the Century. I have been looking at my tires and they are about done. I have been thinking of getting some take-off wheels from another Buick to put on my car since I have been running white walls on the stock steelies/hubcaps since new in '03. I am kind of tired of that look, not to mention that there are probably 20 other Centuries in town with the same wheel/cap/tire combo. (my town is not that big either, lol) I was thinking of upgrading to a factory 16" alloy from a later/different model and running a P215/60R16. That would make it a little wider footprint and fit the 6.5" wide wheels while keeping the same overall Ø as my stock tires. I found a couple options on ebay thus far for wheels and I am wanting some opinions. Or if you think a better option I should look for. I am not in a huge hurry as I still have a little tread left. The car: Option 1: Buick Rendezvous 16" alloys $300 shipped... (the wife has the same vehicle/wheel, but that wouldn't really matter, its a nice looking wheel) Option 2: 05-08 Chrome Lacrosse wheels.. These are more spendy but are through LKQ they are wanting about $520 for this set, but we have an LKQ local so I might go try to work them down a little Monday.. About $450/set again at LKQ. mrl390 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 I would go with the first ones if they fit. They are the least grandpa-looking wheels you have listed. Quote
Jssuper Posted February 21, 2011 Author Report Posted February 21, 2011 I am not that up to speed on take-off wheel sets. Are those reasonable prices? The Rendezvous wheels seem like a good deal, but some of the others seem steep. Quote
AL Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Depending on what kind of look you are going for, you could pick up a set of Pontiac wheels for a sporty look and just pick up some Buick center caps Quote
jimmyfloyd Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Bonneville 5 spokes from 95-99 are pretty cheap and look nice on them. This was a buddy's car: And if you ever wanted to do a rear disc brake swap, check this thread out: http://www.bonnevillepro.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10626&p=133056&hilit=century#p133056 Quote
Andrew Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 honestly i would look at craigslist for used wheels. those prices are crazy! Quote
pwmin Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 out of those I'd go with the first choice because I hate chrome wheels Quote
Jssuper Posted February 24, 2011 Author Report Posted February 24, 2011 Yah I am not diggin the chrome either, atleast not on this car.... I havn't landed on anything yet, but that pic with the Bonneville wheels looked nice. I kinda felt most of those prices were high. Quote
Jssuper Posted April 17, 2011 Author Report Posted April 17, 2011 (edited) Ok.. So time for the update.. I searched relentlessly out here and couldn't really find anything I liked, so I went with the set of Rendezvous wheels and I must say, they were like new. I don't think they were even driven on the vehicle atleast not for very long. I was very happy about the condition of them for the price. Took them down and had a new set of 215/60 R16 Firestone Affinity Touring tires mounted, then threw on some new chrome lugs to top it off. Needless to say, I am pleased with the changes. alec_b Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Looks good! Just out of curiosity though why not go with 225/60 tires instead of the 215? All the sportier W-bodies got 225's or better. Quote
The Guz Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 They look better than what was on there. Quote

Jssuper Posted April 21, 2011 Author Report Posted April 21, 2011 keeps the speedo correct, and 10mm doesnt amount to anything. It is a Century after all. Exactly right. Tire Ø by size: OE: 205/70R15 = 26.3 215/60R16 = 26.1 If I went up a size it would be more rotating mass for my 3100 to turn.. Quote
