BXX
Figured I should keep this seperate from my project thread so it stays more ontopic. Doing a LX9 engine swap in my 95 CS (Wewt!) and I pondered my options with the trans. Currently my 3.33 FDR 4T60e is in good shape and shifts nice, but has alot of miles on it and leaks from both the trans pan and side cover gaskets. While I could easily throw some gaskets on, new fluid and filter, but then im left with a 60K engine and a 165K trans. I have Andrie's old 3.08 FDR trans that was in his 95 Regal (L27) that has roughly 60K on it since the rebuild, and doesnt leak and has a new parking pawl and rod in it. The best route is obvious, except I DONT WANT a 3.08 FDR Am I able to directly swap my 3.33 FDR diff over to the 3.08 FDR trans? Or will I need top swap like the chain set and diff sun gear over? Also, Andrie if you can chime it, but looking at your rebuilt sheet or whatever, were any solenoids replaced??

BXX
Buuuuut, ive heard some of them had fine tooth FDRs and sun gears.
alec_b
Neither was indicated as such per the chart. There were * next to those, and those were only in other 4T60's. Unless you don't two originally equipped transmissions. If either has been changed in either car's life you won't know. Unless you have the ID tag #'s
alec_b
http://www.60degreev6.com/forum/content.php/165-4-Speed-Transaxle-Info That's the page I referenced BTW. Proper credit to the author of course.
BXX
I was trying to find that page the other day but it wouldnt load. So what would be my best bet for a higher FDR? Im wanting to go pretty high. What would I get, and could I do this? My 3.33 Diff and a 33/37 chainset? That would give me a 3.73 FDR, right? All I would need is a chainset and sprockets from a LQ1? RobertISaar
sweet, someone actually uses that info. time well spent. a LQ1 chainset(or any others that use the 33/37 setup), combined with a 3.33 FDR WILL give 3.73. traction will be interesting though. BXX
Traction wont be an issue:thumbsup: I have two tires in mind that will have gobs of it. The ones I want to use will require me to get 18" wheels.
RobertISaar
if those alone won't take it, i think phantom grip makes a "cheap" LSD for the 4T60Es... FWIW, superdave's 300WHP Z24 had serious traction issues and he ended up welding the diff(282 with 3.61FDR), but he pulled a flat 13 with a cam/headers/porting and not much else IIRC. still pulled 30+ MPG too on the highway. BXX
Im sure a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s wil take care of me, but not my wallet:lol: If I keep my 17s, then I will run Potenza RE760s which will do damn good as well. 1QUICKHATCH
what about using a 3.08 with the 37/33? that should give you a nice 3.45 fdr. would it not?
BXX
Cause a 3.73 will be much moar fun!!!!!!!
1QUICKHATCH
Cause a 3.73 will be much moar fun!!!!!!! lol! I need to do some thing with my trans soon, the 2.84 fdr is killing me! I will put a 3.18 in it atleast, maybe a 3.73 if I can find a 3.33 diff for a 3t40. are you going to use a higher stall converter too? Addicted to eaton
Something to think about is a HD diff if ur gonna run some meat on it. can be had in like Bonnie's, and Park Avenues IIRC.
