R Dubya
Hi guys been a while, hows it going Quick question, my brother and I tore apart his 98 GTP today and are doing the LIM gaskets. Upon removing the fuel rail, the small clips (round and brown) on the manifold side of the injector broke(the ones that hold the o-ring onto the bottom aspect of the injector). At least 2 of them are damaged and likely not usable. The junkyard is an option, however, I don't know: Are these clips serviceable, and if so does anyone have the part number? And: If not, can I collect these brittle things from any 3.8 injector, or just L67's? Time to check the junkyard? First time with the 3.8 here so I'm afraid it'll burn up haha
9lumina6
If he plans on keeping the car for a while....I would just get a lower mileage set of 6 and use those. It wouldnt hurt. And the injectors are L67 specific.......L36 injectors are a lower flow rate. And be sure to use new O-rings fo the injectors before re-installing. You can put a slice carefully in the old ones w/ a razor blade and just rip them off....when putting the new ones on the injectors just take a little vasoline and coat the O-ringsin them and they should slip right on with no problem. mfewtrail
The pieces on the tip of the injectors are called "pintle" caps. You can grab them off of any injector of the same physical size/body style. They're commonly replaced when people have injectors reconditioned. If you don't want to go the junkyard route, just search "injector rebuild kit" or something like that and you should find several websites selling kits that include the pintle caps. I just did a quick search and found something, but do you know if these are Bosch style? Are these it? http://www.fuelinjectorconnection.com/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=230 Thanks a lot for the help I'll keep looking. He's not going to be happy that it will have to sit a few more days.
mfewtrail
Ryan, check out this store on ebay. They have pictures of the injector bodies so you can easily compare them. If in doubt, email them and I'm sure they'll point you to the right ones you need. http://stores.ebay.com/Mr-Injector

I contacted a place in Georgia when I googled Bosch 3 injectors, they assured me they had the parts, they sent me 8 for $17. Steep for what they are but hey at least its back together and running well. Thanks for your help guys.
R Dubya
Hey Matt - Thanks again for the help. Those new caps were a little different, the lip on the bottom was quite a bit larger than the OEM one's, but new orings, no leaks, everything is good. I used a block of wood and rocked the injector back and forth on the cap so it would go in smooth, and it did. Wouldn't want to use those things cold either, so I warmed them up some in front of the furnace first. Easy job, just had to wait so long for all the parts that I didn't know to be careful with. off topic but have you or anyone seen the TGP that I sold a couple years back? Last I knew it went to trade in at a dealer in Mass, wondered if it ever showed back up on the forums?

If that place in GA was the one you linked to, I've used them in the past for injector reconditioning.
nitehawkjcb
You mean the little pieces that hold the injector the fuel rail? I lost like three of mine and haven't had any issues, as long as you ensure the injectors are tight in the rail, you're good
