turkey_club
97 L67 Threw a "Random Misfire" and a "Crankshaft Position Sensor" code When it was still working it had the worst time trying to accelerate (for ~ the last month) i.e. ALOT of misfire/vibration/loss of power Would "Almost" die at idle intermittently Took ~2 seconds too long to start Ignition Module changed back in August Is this just a CPS problem?? AL
Quite possibly... If its not starting I would start with the basics and check for fuel and spark
GTP091
Sounds like your timing belt might be having issues.
Night Fury
it's a 3.8.... It doesn't HAVE a timing belt
98LuminaLTZ
I am having some similar issues with my 98 L36 (hasnt ever stalled, but hesitates on accel, and SLIGHT rough idle), I'm at almost 100k miles, driven hard, I'm figuring worn/tired ignition parts or fuel flow issues, timing is REAL unlikely on these since its a timing chain, not belt, but its still possible its jumped a tooth or two, but a broken timing chain is almost unheard of in a 3800 (SC or not). So far I have changed coils/module (with little or no change), next I try plugs and wires, next I would try fuel filter, and check fuel flow from pump, not just pressure, but flow as well. Possibilty that a bad o2 sensor or even stuck EGR could cause it too. I still drive it daily, not bad enough to really worry me yet, its took about a year from the first P0300 misfire code before it started hesitating, I just REALLY dont look forward to plugs on this thing having to unbolt and rotate the engine. Galaxie500XL
I'd bet a bad crank sensor. Common problem on the Buick, I've replaced 3 of them over the years that did similar things, including one that the epoxy on the back had developed a crack, which allowed moisture in the sensor. It would work, then run badly, then not run at all.
98LuminaLTZ
I just changed the plug wires on mine, no more p0300 misfire codes, no more stumble or hesitation on acceleration. Back to fast as heck
