Plugs and wires

Ok, time to do some ignition work. What plugs and wires are good for the L67? Pretty much stock right now. Just have a cai as only mod.

Heard NGK TR55 plugs are good. Advance told me the car takes an iridium plug. Some say cooler plug works better.

As for wires, I've heard to stay w/ AC Delco. I was thinking ZZP.

Colder plugs are better but only if your are modded more than you are... Use the AC Delco iridium plugs and AC Delco wires... The guys on Nebraska club GP talk very bad about the zzp wires being crappy

yep, the ZZP wires are shit. You arent going to gain anything by "upgrading" the wires, so go with AC delco or other quality replacement wires. I have NAPA brand premiums IIRC.

TR55 are fine. I run cheap autolites with no issues.

I quit buying carbon-core wires a LONG time ago. There's just no point to buying ordinary carbon-core wires when helical-(sometimes called spiral-) wound plug wires are now very common.

Doesn't really matter what brand of helical-style wires you get; I've used several brands and they all work well. MSD Super Conductor are very high-quality but also unreasonably expensive; and they may or may not have plug wire ends that are correct for your vehicle. Magnecor wires are even MORE expensive. Feel free to buy any non-bottom-feeder (imported from China) helical-wound wires that happen to fit your budget and your vehicle. Any helical plug wire will have very low resistance compared to carbon-core; so it does NOT matter what the exact resistance spec is--it'll be WAY lower than the stock wires. Helical-wound wires "can" last longer than carbon-core; the carbon core "can" deteriorate over time especially if the wires are handled roughly. That said...I'm still using the original carbon-core wires that came with both of my Luminas--a '92 and a '93. When they die, I'll replace 'em with helical-wound wires.

I used to love Autolite plugs. Worked great, dirt cheap. Doesn't get better than that. Now, most of the Autolite plugs are made in China; and I won't vouch for the quality. Price is the same or more than when they were made in North America; so the profit margin has gone sky-high. Good luck with spark plugs, read the box carefully or you'll wind up with Chinesium junk.

Look at how OEM AC Delco plugs and wires last. 100K that they're designed for, easily. Seems reasonable to replace with the same. I always have, and for my top-swapped Monte, I replaced with stock AC Delco plugs and wires
