Amplifier Power

What is the best place to get 12V for an amplifier that will be placed in the trunk? It's only a 240W amplifier, so it's not a high power amp. Is there a place to tie into in the trunk? If not, what is the best place to tie into up front? Should I go from the clock/radio fuse, or is this a bad idea? Also, what gauge wire should I run? Thanks for any input.

8 Ga wire running from the positive battery terminal with hmm say 45-50amp fuse inline under the hood....run that to the trunk. ground wire stays as short as possible. i ran that to one of my rear seatbelt bolts. i sanded the paint away from that area.

only way is to get it from the front of the car.

this requires routing wire of the proper gauge through the car. if that is the only amp planned then 8 gauge would be plenty. if bigger or a second one is planned then it would be cheaper and less hassle in the long run to go ahead and run 4 gauge or larger. this is dependant on how big you might go.

i compete in SPL comps so i went HUGE. 2/0 welders cable. was dirt cheap buying it online.

in doing this you will also want to upgrade the batt to frame ground under hood. with at least the same size wire as used for power.

the ground for the amp needs to be the same size as the power also.
