Leafing through a popular mechanics, and came across an article on Optima Sports new Cambertire. Apparently they have made/are making a tire that has negative camber built into the sidewalls. Pretty cool concept, wonder if it will work. Anyone heard about this?

Saw this in the local news a few months ago. Seems like a cool idea but I don't see it taking off either.

That idea has been around for quite a few years actually.

 

A few auto manufactures recently looked into using them, but have since abandoned the idea as in theory it works great, but in real world, you end up with cars pulling and other weird shit.. Wish I could find the article about that where they were doing some testing.

Yes, negative camber has advantages, but this seems pretty pointless when you can just dial up the alignment for a little bit of negative camber to accomplish the same thing, which is what 90% of newer vehicles specify.
