Unable to shift outta park when cold

interesting problem with my 96 MC today, was really cold out and i went to leave work, it would not shift out of park (button would not press in), let the car warm for a bit and it finally did. i seem to remember something awhile back about the park interlock switches on the w-bodys, but search turned up nothing. does this sound right? any other possibilities? and if it is the switch, where is it and how do i change it?

When that happened to my 4t60 I just flushed the transmission fluid and it stopped acting up. I probably had a clog that took a while for the fluid pressure to break up.

It's got nothing to do with fluid, it's in the button itself. Try and take it apart.
