GOT2B GM
I want to put HID's in the low beam miniquads on my CS vert. Are you guys siliconing 9006's in or what? I'm new to miniquads. Thanks
Psych0matt
I used silverstars and they were tons better, but I don't know about HIDs. Silverstars should do you fine IMO
AL
What the Fehl put in Camaro lights that I thought were HIDs and they are bright as shit!! Wait for him to post
Wheels
I siliconed hids in mine and they came out good. I heard some had trouble removing the halogen bulbs out of the glass, but mine seemed easy to pop out.
white4d96
There is also a conversion housing available to the F-body community that I heard will work, but it's like $70. That would be the route I would go personally, as I don't really enjoy RTV'ing the crap out of my headlights. That's just a personal opinion though; tons of people 'retrofit' their miniquads without issue. I think it was these? http://www.eurolamps.com/eurolamps/camaro_headlights.htm
AL
Yah, thats what Fehl put in his GP
GnatGoSplat
I don't think I even had to silicone mine. The O-rings make them fit really snug!
GaPrix
Siliconed mine, was unaware of the eurolamp site...probably be a whole lot cleaner, will have to look into that. HIDs are awesome, lows/fogs 55w 6000k.
GnatGoSplat
I don't see the point of spending $70 for the housings. If you buy generic Chinese HIDs with the molded 9006 bases, they fit just as snug as halogen 9006s. Bulbs with this type of base will fit nice and tight: http://cartoka.com/catalog/images/9006-HID.jpg What you're looking for is the base with O-ring. It will fit tightly into the neck of the stock housings. It doesn't hurt to put a thin bead of Permatex Adhesive RTV on the flange of the housing where it butts up against the plastic flange of the bulb, but I'm talking just a thin bead, not globs of it. On the other hand, a genuine D2S bulb rebased to 9006 will NOT fit nice and tight and probably would need a housing or silicone globbed all over to hold them in. What NOT to get: http://www.hidexpert.com/new/DSCN3204.JPG I would for sure try the Chinese bulbs first before wasting $70 on housings. I've had them in mine for a number of years and they are as good, if not better, than the rebased Philips OEM in my 89 (a little bluer as well, despite the fact they were supposed to be 4300K like the Philips). GOT2B GM
Thanks Shawn thats the info I was looking for. I'd consider those housings if they were "euro" clear for a more modern look.
Artemis
I've got the euro conversion kit on my GTP. I removed the HID's for some reason I don't recall anymore. But now I can just put 9006's in there instead of replacing the whole assembly.

I agree. If they were euro clear jeweled style housings, I would definitely get some. But for OEM-looking fluted housings, no way.
