vo1tage
Trans runs good for about a mile. Then while driving the upshift is delayed and will slam into gear if i dont take it easy. sometimes sitting at a light the trans will not engage and the car will roll back for a second until it engages. I bought the chiltons manual and couldnt seem to find the write up about this part (anyone have a haynes or other manual with this in it?). What are the chances a "backyard" mechanic like myself could do this (i know about the engne braces and other parts needed to do the job correctly)? If anyone has done this any information (links, pictures, suggestions, shortcuts, tests, etc...) would be greatly appreciated. Oh and btw i am gonna auto tap it tomorrow, as long as its nice out. i just scanned the car but this site only allows 620x280 or something so i have to re adjust picture size. pictures of autotap coming soon The autotap is showing the pcs at 0% There are no codes being thrown at me. I think its the pcs but im not sure im gonna look and guess on how hard thats gonna be to replace by myself. Thank you in advance, Mike Edited November 27, 2010 by vo1tage added info, corrected info
BXX
4t60e transmissions like yours don't have a pcs. They are vacuum modulated.
Jonpro03
I would install a trans cooler and drop a bottle of Lucas Stop Slip in it and pray.
BXX
I would install a trans cooler and drop a bottle of Lucas Stop Slip in it and pray. Too late for any of that to do a damn bit of good. Damage is already done. Sounds like the clutches are fried or the front pump is shot. Time for a rebuild. On the small chance the trans filter is glogged up, I would drop the pan, do a new filter, and some fresh fluid and see where that gets you. vo1tage
my trans fluid just seems to be dissapearing. i dont know where its going but i feel like ive added 2 quarts in 3 weeks. when i bought the car (about a month ago) it was low about half a quart. Anythings i can check. i am gonna drop and do the trans filter change. i dont put many miles on the car and it seems to run consistent as with the problems. Thanks again guys

BXX
betcha the vacuum modulator shit the bed and fluid is going into the intake through the vacuum line. Assuming you dont have an external leak
vo1tage
Bxx thats the type of info im looking for. i am going to do my research on this issue and hope its in the chiltons. Any sites or info you can point me at would be greatly appreciated. Btw i just added that quart of atf and have been sick the last couple days + shitty weather. i had a friend follow me after i added the first quart and asked if the exhaust was blowing smoke. They confirmed that it was. I will be looking into this issue you speak of in the next couple days. Also i noticed trans runs 95% when cold out about 32F i've had the car a little over a month now. trying to fix it or limp it through winter. Thanks again, -volt
