Replacement transmission mount for 284?

Hey all, I've broken two elderly transmission mounts on my 284 in the last 10k miles and I'd like to get a replacement, but the usual sources (RockAuto, O'Reilly's, Autozone) all say it's not made anymore. Anywhere else to look? Can these be repaired or reconditioned?

I don't know what would be so awesome about a poly trans mount. Ever had one before? The vibration is very annoying, way too much for a DD. I'll just take plain ol' rubber at factory durometer, thanks.

I had full solid mounts in an Impala I used to own. It vibrated, but it didn't bother me one bit. I guess it all depends on what you're willing to sacrifice for performance/durability.

I bought one new from the dealer back in 2003 and within 2 years they were no longer available. Probably just remaining stock.

The mount is a super simple design so I don't see why something couldn't be fabricated.

My thinking is is that there is one already in production that is close enough that we can use it... The Getrag is a German design correct? It wouldnt surprise me if a German car was using a similar mount

Nope, this one we can be proud of - engineered at Getrag Gears of North America in Newton, NC.

It's really not like most other mounts, if it's like any at all. I can't find a picture of it, but normally, you have a pair of studs protruding out the top and/or bottom of backing plates glued to a big hunk of rubber, like this:

Instead, the 284 mount has studs on the bottom where it attaches to the frame, but on top are two sleeves through which bolts attach it at a 90 degree angle - directly to the side of the 284. The only thing I've found that's sorta close is this, from a Porsche 944:

What fails is the rubber splitting down the middle, usually from some other mount failing - which is what happened in my case, the rear engine mount went, and took this one with it. It isn't exposed to oil so usually the rubber doesn't deteriorate.

If there were a way to bond the two broken rubber halves back together, that should take care of it for most of the ones that break. I just haven't found an adhesive that's up to the task yet. Window Weld is often used for repairing or strengthening mounts, but I've tried it and it isn't strong enough to stand up to even a stock DOHC's torque.

I've made some inquiries to places that rebuild extinct mounts, but they say these are "too new" - Lynn Steele Rubber and Damper Doctor. Apparently they only work with stuff from the pre-disco era. Also called Anchor and asked them about repairing, they say only virgin rubber can be properly bonded to anything including itself - once used it doesn't stick properly anymore, so repairing is out.

If there was some way to get rid of all the rubber I'm sure the two pieces could be welded together if you set it up in a jig. I think I might try that.

A jig is exactly what is needed. Looks to be a pretty easy one to build as well.

However, I would first make a mold of the mount.
