ScoobyDoo82
Alright I'm sure this has been covered before but don't kill me for asking this... BUUUT... I want to do plugs on the GP (2.8) and I was wondering what you guys found was the best way to reach the back plugs and the o2 sensor. 94 olds vert
Take off your dog bones and rock the engine. It will give you some more room.
ScoobyDoo82
Take off your dog bones and rock the engine. It will give you some more room. So can I take them off and jack up the back of the engine slightly?
94 olds vert
Ya that will rock the engine towards the front of the car.

AL
Or rachet strap it forward or I have heard of some people putting it in park on a hill or something like that
Night Fury
You don't have to jack anything. Just unbolt one front mount, but put the bolt back in, then unbolt the other, use the first for leverage with a breaker bar, pole, anything;pull the engine forward enough that you can rebolt the second mount into the little hole on the underside of the dogbone, that's what it is there for. jake91
remove dogbone park with nose facing down hill this will rock the engine this is why i love the dohc plugs are easy lol no rocking needed
mra32
what i do is put it in park, but since i like to work on my car on level ground, i just rock one of the front wheels and once i get it pretty far forward stick like a brick behind the tire. I was able to do my O2 sensor in like 5 minutes when my car was rocked forward like this. Spark plugs are a different story. I have one of those spark plug wrenches that have the universal joints attached to the top and i think that helps me tremendously along with some extensions and if i'm feeling really froggy another universal joint. What I do is get on the passenger side and get my tools and supplies ready since i dont plan on moving for the next half hour. I get my left arm behind the engine and leave it there. I drop everything i need down to my left hand with my right hand (it helps that im left handed). This is the best way i've found to access the plugs in the 3 times that i've done it. Im having the complete opposite problem. I got the rear plugs no problem but I cant reach the damn o2 sensor.

The 3.4's absolutley need some means of rocking the engine forward in conjunction with swivels and extensions/ or little slices taken out of the weatherstrip flange in the cowl area to do plugs. mra32
I dunno, maybe its different on the 2.8, but once I removed the air intake tube, and rocked the engine forward, my 7/8 box end wrench did quick work of the O2 sensor. I think the wrench might be smaller than most at like 7 inches long and it may have taken careful placement of the wrench. I dont remember anything else that may have been a hitch
