95 Cutlass Drop Top
I think my tranny is done. I was driving one day and all of a sudden it just stop pulling. My ABS light came on and that was it. It will drive in 1st/low gear, and when it get to about 3000rpms it stops pulling. When it is in park, neutral or reverse, there is a loud rattling noise. But if I put it in anyother gear it goes away. Does anybody know my problem????
supreme_style21
Sounds similar to my buddy's car.. only it would make noise in all gears except park. Punched it down in a corner, heard some godawful grinding noise and the car came to a hault...broke a CV joint if I remember correctly. brother pig
I would think that the problem would be elsewhere than the tranny, simply because your ABS light came on. CV joint sounds like it could be the problem....
95 Cutlass Drop Top
Bad cv joints can stop my car from pulling and going in reverse?
supreme_style21
Yeah when it happened with us, the car would not move at all. We had to push it a block back to our apartment and have a towtruck pick it up. I do not see how the ABS light would come on with a trans problem. I am guessing the ABS wheel speed sensor got jittered up front with the breaking of a joint.
95 Cutlass Drop Top
Well are cv joints hard to replace yourself. If so is it expensive to get fixed.
supreme_style21
He had them fixed because we had no place to fix them ourselves. Ran about 475 bucks.
