Chris Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Went to change the strut cartridges on my Lumina today to only find out one of the boxes is missing the hardware. I bought these about a year and a half ago but never got around to installing them (took the car off the road and let it sit). This is the missing hardware: Anyone know where I can get these? I'm sure the autoparts store isn't going to carry KYB parts, I've already looked at rockauto and they only sell the whole strut cartridge. I've contacted KYB, but I need this stuff sooner rather than later. I'm not sure what KYB's turn-around time is, but hopefully I'll hear back from them soon. Quote
White93z34 Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 I might have a spare set kicking around, its off a monroe cart though... pretty sure its the same exact parts. PM me. Edit, you might also be able to use the stock stuff from the car on the new strut cart. Quote
jman093 Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Yeah, just reuse the caps and nuts on there. Quote
Crazy K Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 ??? you cannot reuse the stock ones, as they have seals built into the top. Contact KYB and get something else done on the car for now... Quote
Chris Posted November 1, 2010 Author Report Posted November 1, 2010 Yeah, you can't reuse the stock caps. I already disassembled one of the stock ones, removed the rubber seals in it - and tried to modify it. If it's not JUST right, the strut cartridge bounces around in the assembly. DynamiX - PM'd you Crazy - Already contacted them, awaiting their reply. Quote
Chris Posted November 10, 2010 Author Report Posted November 10, 2010 Thanks to White93z34 for taking the time to send me pictures of his hardware. Unfortunately, it was similar to the stock stuff so I couldn't use it. Good news though, is KYB sent me the hardware FREE OF CHARGE! I didn't have to pay for the parts, or shipping. Now THAT is good business practice! Got the hardware yesterday and installed the strut in the car. It handles better now, it was kinda iffy with three brand new struts and one bad one. Quote
