MemphisMan
I always wondered how the stock rims would look chromed. Looks pretty good I think. Not a bad looking Cutty either! Has anyone had their stock rims chromed and how much did it cost?
94 olds vert
I love that car, and those rims. I would love to have rims that looked liked that.
theghoul
Holy shit that looks nice. Where is this car?
MemphisMan
I did a google image search for "hurst olds convertible" and saw it. I just did it again and found it's home on cardomain here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/547351 The shifters are bad ass!
white4d96
Why three of the things though? I don't get the point of that. Not a big fan of chrome tbh, but those wheels look decent.
Crazy K
I have a single chrome 5 spoke rim. They LEAK air like HELL. ^$#!@^ corrosion. GM made maybe 1000 of the rims in chrome from the factory. MANIC? you remember the details on these...
MemphisMan
Lightning Rod Shifters: These are a type of shifter made by Hurst. They're standard in the '83-'84 Hurst/Olds...don't know if they're functionl in the car above. Basically, they're kind of a "His-n-hers" shifter. There are three shift rods in the center console. The left one goes P R N OD D and works like a normal gearshift with the exception of no L (low). If you shift it all the way down into D, then the car is limited to third gear or lower. When in D, you can shift the middle lever toward you to now limit the car to 2nd gear. When it's down you can pull the right lever to limit to first. When accelerating you can start with all the shifters toward you, then throw the right, center, then left one forward while accelerating. Kind of fun, but in reality they're not much more than a gimmick.

MemphisMan
I didn't know some came chrome from the factory. Was it for just one year or something?
bg35765
Those look great. I had never seen Cutlass chrome wheels before. Here's a place on ebay that does it for just under $800. I have been looking around because my one of my Regal chrome wheels leaks badly and I have already had it remounted twice. http://stores.ebay.com/L-A-Wheel-And-Tire-Factory-Wheels
intern8tion9l
I love that car, and those rims. I would love to have rims that looked liked that. i hate that car, and those rims. it has been posted a few times on here
95 vert
My Vert Wheels cost 125 including return shipping from a guy in Calif.
MemphisMan
I really like that look. That price seems really good too!
94 olds vert
Too much chrome. Need to break it up by doing something with the center cap.
GnatGoSplat
I may be alone here, but I think the factory 5-stars are rather ugly. I'm not sure if it's the convex-ness of the wheels or the rounded spokes, but I've never liked them. It always makes my wife and me so sad to see the ugly factory 5-stars back on the vert in winter. Personally, I prefer the wheels you currently have on it. Chrome wheels need to be switched out in winter. Even exposure to salt once can ruin them. We don't get a lot of snow/salt in Missouri, but once is enough. I learned that the hard way on my Silverado, and I even sprayed them with WD40 before winter thinking that would help. intern8tion9l
I may be alone here, but I think the factory 5-stars are rather ugly. you're def not alone. although they are a step up from our factory wheels!
MemphisMan
What's weird is that there was a time when I really loved the factory 5 spokes. I guess I was comparing them to the 15" saw blades. Don't get me wrong, I still like them, but there are rims I like more than the factory 5 spokes....like the ones I have on my car now I do think the the chromed version looks better than the painted one. The factory 5 spokes will always look good on the Cutty, just not great. Lol, the day will come when larger rims look ugly to people and they'll be putting 13's on them because high sidewalls will be in style!! 94vertluvr
I had a shop price me out $100/ea to polish the aluminum; I thought that was a little high when you can buy new ones for not much more.
thatcutteeboy
Lightning Rod Shifters: When accelerating you can start with all the shifters toward you, then throw the right, center, then left one forward while accelerating. Kind of fun, but in reality they're not much more than a gimmick. It's not a gimmick. It's for racing. Upon taking off from the line you have all of them to the rear, when you want to leave first gear you move the right one up, when you want to leave second gear you move the middle one up, and when you're really ready to go you move the left one up. It's sort of like having a auto- manual in one. I had a 86 cutlass that I put the LIGHTINING ROD SHIFTERS in. Someone stole it from a garage that I had it stored in for three years. Bummer I was saving it for my son.
Psych0matt
I don't like the chrome, and I'm mostly with shawn on this one, not a huge fan of the stockers, but tive seen much worse
